The Minutes of Time
After the seeds of reality have been sown
in the garden of life, memories of friends
and family will be grown and recorded by
the minutes of time.
When the cold comes, or when the water
is rare, the plant’s branches will die or
the ground will be empty and bare.
Then the wind blows over new seeds.
Even it the old plant is gone, the memory
of its glorious blooms will still be there.
Sharing and Caring
Brother Adrian Parker has proved to all of us at Lambda Sigma Chi that true love does exist and long lasting relationships can be a reality if both people want it to happen. Here he spells out his needs to himself or to someone. It really doesn’t matter, though since his expectations are all too familiar.
Sharing and Caring
I need a woman who can
share my thoughts,
my hopes, my dreams,
my fears as I pass
through my youth into the years.
I would give her
my love,
my heart,
my body,
my soul to know I can
hold her tight on a cold winter night.
Sharing and caring is the
only way to love, the only way for me.
In the Movies
I can be the good guy, or the bad.
I can be the happy one, or the sad.
I can be anything when I take a seat
and become part of the movie.
I can escape my reality.
I can be in England, or in the East.
I can be poor and hungry, or feast.
I can be anything when I take a seat
and become part of the movie.
I can escape my reality.
I can be head over heals in love, or out.
I can tango, waltz, or twist and shout.
I can be anything when I take a seat
and become part of the movie.
I can escape my reality.
I can be the loser, or the winner.
I can be a saint, or a lost sinner.
I can be anything when I take a seat
and become part of the movie.
I can escape my reality.
I can hurt and kill with a blank gun.
I can be elected since I am the one.
I can be anything when I take a seat
and become part of the movie.
I can escape my reality.
I can see in color, or black and white.
I can be in the shadows, or in the light.
I can be anything when I take a seat
and become part of the movie.
I can escape my reality.
Only You
You make my life complete.
You were bound to me by destiny.
I can love only you
I will love only you
Only you.
There are times when I am weak.
You are the truth when I can’t see.
I can love only you
I will love only you
Only you.
Your love doesn’t skip a beat.
The music in your heart is sweet.
I can love only you
I will love only you
Only you.

Sólo tú
Usted hace mi vida completa.
Usted se dirigían a mí por el destino.
Yo puedo amar sólo tú
I will love only you
Sólo tú.
Hay veces que soy débil.
Tú eres la verdad, cuando no puedo ver.
Yo puedo amar sólo tú
I will love only you
Sólo tú.
Su amor no se salta un latido.
La música en tu corazón es dulce.
Yo puedo amar sólo tú
I will love only you
Sólo tú.
Time After Time

Time After Time
Mighty palais d’argent et d’or

Time After Time
Mighty palaces of silver and gold
crumble with the passage of time,
and the stone foundations of temples
inspired by lost loves lay in ruins.
Memories of these monuments
turn into testaments of history,
and the lives of the people who
created them have their records
scattered over the sands of time.
We, in the future, look at the ruins
with questions forming in our minds
as we sift through the sand searching
for the clues of past civilizations.
We wonder what will become of our
great attempts to be remembered
by those who will come after us.
Will they record our faults or deeds,
or recognize the simplest tools?
With the information of the past at hand,
can we see patterns of behavior
that destroy empires, or will we be
doomed to repeat the past’s failures?

Of Heart and Mind
You take my emotions on a crazy roller coaster ride,
And not only do they go up and down; feelings collide
In opposite states of my heart and my mind.
In the months we have been together, I have tried.
There have been days I’ve shed tears that dried,
And my peaceful smile has expressions that lie.
Behind it, I’m not sure of what side to abide,
and a part of me will have to make a sacrifice.
My love is so fierce, that if we were to divide
I’m sure a part of my soul would surely die.
Waves

(Art by Mike Hall)
A combination of special effects from my computer generated this art print called “Waves.” In an ocean of space, waves roll through the heavens like waves on the beach.

Never had time to say good bye
“Never had time to say goodbye” was first published in The Hawkeye, the Faulk Intermediate School yearbook, 1993, Brownsville, Texas. It was written in honor of one of the students who attend the school, a student of mine, who died tragically in a car accident one afternoon. The last page of the yearbook was dedicated to John Paul Merino. The poem also appeared in the school newspaper.
Never had time to say good bye
An accident took you away unexpectedly.
I never had time to say good bye
Because I was used to saying, “Hi.”
The future is something we can not see.
Things like this do not seem right,
but I have faith you’re in God’s sight.
