Once is enough

Maintaining a marriage can be challenge, and as Brother Adrian Paker should know, a divorce is never easy. Here are some mental notes of his reflection on relationships.
Once is enough
Once is enough to break a trust
especially one that takes years to create,
Is it worth the sacrifices to be made?
Even after all the tears and fears,
a person will never forget even if he or
she is somehow forgiven for their sin.
The crime begins, in the cloak of secrecy,
when the same thing happens again and
again, and all hope of reconciliation is lost.
Then there is a cost, and family and friends
use courts to get their way, and what is
there say in the end, except, “I didn’t
Know what I was doing,” which is not true.
Texas Sunset
Texas Sunset
Another night will end tonight
without a chance for me to see a
Texas sunset through the Mesquite trees.
The contrast in the different colors
with orange ball on the horizon is
a natural painting never duplicated.
So simple a sunset, and not a one
the same, and I will miss it again.
My Way
I hold your gentle hand,
and stroke your black hair.
I see the look in your eyes,
and then know that you care
for this little boy inside me
who wants to hold and kiss you.
Then my heart wants to believe
you can be the only one
who will take my love.
and turn it into something new.
Your smile reflects the light above.
This is my way to say, “I love you.”

Mi Camino
Tengo tu mano suave,
The Girl in the Mirror
She has many problems,
and all she wants to do is to cry.
The pretty, lonely, confused young
girl looks into the magic mirror.
It shows what life around her would
be like if she committed suicide.
Loneliness and depression kept her
from talking to her closest friends,
and family problems were enough
for her to consider this end.
A voice inside her head guides her
as she looks in her heart following
feelings she assumed were neglected.
The girl in the mirror has to decide
if life is worth living or it would be
easier to commit suicide.
She has many problems, and all
she wants to do is to die.
Dangerous Liaisons
Officially, courtly arrangements are
really as cold as ice,
and it’s the other lovers who pay
the ultimate sacrifice.
Secrets of the dark are revealed
in the pain of day light.
Loss of dignity can’t compare when
Tempers flare; death is the price.

Eye of the Tiger

The stamens of the Orange Day Lilly, or commonly called the Tiger Lilly, are covered with pollen as this bloom growns wild in a group of flowers in a ditch hear the intersection of Creekside Lane and 71st Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 28, 2009.

Brainstorm
On a bright sunny day,
gray clouds start to form, but
they are in my mind; the vapors
of ideas float in my head.
Thunder sounds and lightning strikes a nerve.

Grammer Lesson

Brother Christopher Benedict, being a wordsmith by profession, had a different point of view about how to apply language to the meaning of life. I like this poem he sent to me.
Grammer Lesson
Does it really matter if it’s its or it’s or what?
Participles are making me tense, in their past,
present and future.
Verbs are linking me to objects giving directions, but
I still don’t understand where I am going.
And I can tell ya their ain’t no such thing as a
simple verb.
If he and she are pronouns, they should have been
free agents by now and at least get proper respect
like proper nouns.
Adverbs and adjectives should go on strike and
life easier.
Prepositional phrases shouldn’t walk around school,
thinking the’re so cool, because they ain’t.
Gerunds are those egg heads trying to keep their
infinitives together.
I know English enough to get a good job, you know.
